The federal government’s health-care plan for patients covered by Medicare may face increases in the cost of prescription drugs such as Viagra.
The government, the American Federation of Health Plans, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of California have agreed to negotiate rates with the federal government to increase the cost of some of the drugs that some insurers may be paying for their patients. However, the government does not expect to increase the cost of the drugs for Medicare patients or hospitals, and the negotiated rate would be higher than the market price of the drugs, the federal government said in an emailed statement.
The price increases were announced after the government and the Blue Cross of California announced that they will negotiate rates with the federal government to increase the cost of the drugs for patients covered by Medicare and hospitals. The negotiated rate would be higher than the market price for the drugs, the health plan said. (The Department of Health and Human Services, HHS, and CMS also announced that they would pay for the drugs.)
The government and Blue Cross of California also announced that they will have negotiated rates with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and other payers for a number of generic drugs that have gone generic since 2013. These generics are called generic drugs because they are cheaper than the branded drugs that are used to treat erectile dysfunction, including the erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra and Levitra. The FDA has approved generic Viagra, Levitra and Cialis as the first-line drugs to treat erectile dysfunction and Cialis is available by prescription only.
The price increases are based on the Medicare drug benefit that has increased for most of the past year, the Medicare Part D program and the Part D program has no copayments. A benefit that has increased for the past two years is a copayment of $25 per prescription drug, the government said. The Medicare Part D program and Part D program will be negotiated rates based on the cost of the drugs. If the Medicare Part D program does not pay for the drugs, or if the Part D program does not cover the drugs, the government will increase the cost of the drugs to a maximum of $100 for the Medicare Part D plan and $150 for the Medicare Part D plan.
The price increases are being negotiated with the FDA, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Department of Veterans Affairs and other health care providers. The government also has to pay a $250 million penalty for not making certain that the drug benefit includes an adequate portion of the cost of the drug. The penalty for not making the drug is $250 million for each prescription drug covered by the drug program.
The government and Blue Cross of California said they have reached an agreement that would allow Medicare to increase the cost of drugs such as Viagra and Cialis to a maximum of $2,300 for the first four months of 2013. If this is not approved, the price increases would not be subject to the final negotiated rate. It is also not expected that the prices of the drugs would exceed the negotiated rates, the government said. The government and Blue Cross of California said they expect the prices of the drugs to increase. The government and Blue Cross of California also said they plan to negotiate rates with the federal government. Background: The purpose of this project was to conduct a study to investigate the effect of a combined combination of two drugs, Viagra and Chantix on the sexual dysfunction associated with hypertension. The purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of two drugs, Viagra and Chantix on the levels of blood pressure in the blood. A total of 1,846 male volunteers were randomly assigned into two groups of 16 individuals. Participants were treated with either the combination of Viagra and Chantix, or the combination of Viagra and Chantix plus Cialis (20 mg) (Table 1). The blood pressure was measured every 4-6 hours, at 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1 hour after the drug intake. Participants were instructed to stop taking the drugs when the blood pressure dropped below 50 mm Hg or more. The blood pressure was also assessed after each drug intake. Blood pressure was then measured using an automatic pressure test meter in a central laboratory in order to calculate the blood pressure. The results of the blood pressure measurement showed that men who received the combination of Viagra and Chantix had lower blood pressure and lower blood pressure levels than those who received the combination of Viagra and Chantix plus Cialis (P = 0.0001).
The results of the study are presented in Table 2.
